A profound reconfiguration of values is unfolding across the global fashion industry. In a diverse context characterized by accelerated technological innovation, continuous consumption segmentation, and rising cultural confidence, traditional Chinese style is no longer merely a nostalgic replication of design elements. Instead, it is evolving into an industry innovation that integrates historical spirit, contemporary aesthetics, and sustainability. It calls for a paradigm shift from "symbol borrowing" to "system construction", and from "market craze" to "value deepening". 

Under this overall situation, on December 23rd, the "2025 China Clothing Association Guofeng Fashion Professional Committee Annual Conference" was held in Shengze, Jiangsu Province. This annual conference was hosted by the China Clothing Association and organized by the China Clothing Association Guofeng Fashion Professional Committee and Jiangsu Shangjiu Kai Silk Co., Ltd. The meeting brought together representatives from member enterprises of the professional committee, industry experts, renowned designers and partners in the industry chain. The aim was to build a high-level dialogue platform, summarize the annual achievements, and discuss the future of Guofeng fashion. 

The Era's Inquiry: 

Where will the next trend of Chinese style fashion lead? 

As the trend of domestic consumption shifts from a burst-like growth to a regular market pattern, the challenges faced by the industry have escalated: How can we go beyond the superficial style and build a national fashion system with profound cultural narratives, core technological support, and global influence? This requires the industry not only to "copy the form" in design, but also to "inspire" in technology, business, and communication, to achieve the organic symbiosis of traditional cultural genes and modern industrial logic. 

Liao Bo, the deputy director of the Industry Department of the China Clothing Association and the secretary-general of the Guofeng Fashion Professional Committee, delivered an annual work report of the committee, stating that since the beginning of this year, the clothing industry has been struggling forward under the complex external circumstances, insufficient demand, and intensified competition. From January to October, the output, export volume and revenue of the large-scale enterprises in the industry all declined, but during the same period, the fixed asset investment increased by 10%, reflecting the industry's development resilience and confidence. Currently, it is at a crucial stage where the "14th Five-Year Plan" and the "15th Five-Year Plan" intersect. The industry is undergoing a transformation towards a fashion and creative industry, and the core task is to develop new quality productive forces with cultural productivity as the focus, build a Chinese-style fashion value system, and enhance the industry's creativity and discourse power. 

To achieve this goal, the National Traditional Chinese Fashion Committee in 2025 will focus on three main tasks: Firstly, it will deepen its efforts on exhibition platforms, leveraging the China International Clothing and Apparel Fair to establish a traditional Chinese fashion exhibition area, facilitating business connections and resource integration; Secondly, it will organize traditional Chinese fashion events, such as the China Great Wall Traditional Fashion Culture Festival, Xuedou Mountain Contemporary Evening Gown Fashion Festival, and the First China Traditional Fashion Week in 2025, promoting the deep integration of culture, industry, and tourism; Thirdly, it will strengthen industry research, releasing a Hanfu market report, formulating group standards for horse-faced skirts and Song brocade clothing, and enhancing industry research and standardization construction. 

Looking forward to 2026, the committee will focus on strengthening the innovation and data management of its members, upgrading the platform for the traditional Chinese culture exhibition area of the Fashion Expo, conducting research on the sub-sectors of the traditional Chinese fashion industry, creating an influential traditional Chinese fashion IP event with social impact, and enhancing the overseas dissemination and promotion of Chinese excellent traditional culture. Thus, it will continuously promote the inheritance, innovation and international dissemination of traditional Chinese fashion culture.
